The subcontractor relationship is distinguished from direct employment by the existence of a subcontract agreement that specifies scope, performance standards, schedule milestones, insurance requirements, and payment terms.

The management of installation subcontractors spans the full project lifecycle: pre-qualification and bidding, contract execution, on-site coordination, inspection readiness, and closeout documentation.
